The Mullaperiyar dispute calls for creative political intervention and water management solutions
Tamil Nadu and Kerala are on the boil over the Mullaperiyar dam. Mistrust between the governments has percolated to people living in both states. Incidents of physical violence have been reported from both states and road traffic at the inter-state border is down to a trickle at many places. With politicians riding populist rhetoric, the law enforcement machinery in both states is stretched.
