The study examines the performance and returns to Bt cotton vs Non-Bt cotton in the state of Maharashtra. The study has been undertaken at the request of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

Aquatic vegetation is generally considered as nuisance plant communities which cause hindrance to aquaculture practice, resulting in the loss of aquaculture yields. Despite all these disadvantages, the importance of freshwater vegetation and their resources to human welfare can not be neglected rather invites attention too.

Sweet sorghum is a special type of sorghum which accumulates sugars in its stalks. The unique high carbon assimilation capability of sorghum crop coupled with another desirable trait of accumulating high levels of extractable sugars in the stalk can be exploited for extensive use of sorghum as raw material for manufacturing ethanol, jaggery, syrup and paper.However, with the ever increasing demand for industrial and fuel-grade ethanol, the scope of using sweet sorghum in ethanol industry as a supplementary raw material to sugarcane molasses is catching up.

Agriculture is the key sector in India's economy, which has not been subject to the economic reforms. The continuous decline in the growth of output in agriculture sector, has recently invited attention of the government which has come out with a plan for development. Agricultural development is an essential condition of economic growth for the developing countries like India.

Agricultural diversification has been a well established traditional farming strategy adopted individually or collectively by Indian farmer or farming communities since time immemorial to minimize risk associated with specialized production system and to ensure household food security. The state of Chhattisgarh has launched a massive crop diversification programme to support double cropping, facilitate shift in cropping pattern towards cash crops and support development of non-farm allied services.

Given the intensity of agriculture and the position of environmental degradation in the country it is necessary to strike balance between fertilizer use and developmental goals for the achievement of economic and environment sustainability. The development could be possible only through judicious management of natural resources without losing much on the pace of the present development.

This study provides insights on ground water market in minor rain fed tank irrigation milieu and also examines the conjunctive use with focus on water productivity and groundwater extraction in tank irrigation system. The study was taken up in three minor irrigation tanks in Tamil Nadu state. All are rain fed tanks depending entirely on rainfall.

At present, throughout the world, there exists significant concern about the effects of climatic changes, as climate is one of the main determinants of agricultural production and it might cause variability in agricultural production. In India climate change is expected to make an impact in agriculture, resulting in lower yields of crops.

India has history of programmes for conservation of soil and water resources by adopting in situ moisture conservation and increased irrigation through tank and aquifer based water harvesting. This article gives an indication of the potential of the watershed programme.

Food security has become incresingly important globally as well as at domestic front as the global foodgrain production is not keeping pace with increasing population.
