SRINAGAR: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today said that tourism potential of Dodhpathari is being explored fully by creation of tourist related infrastructure and development of scenic spots of the area. He said to upgrade infrastructure facilities at the destination the Government has submitted a project of Rs 4.91 crore to Union Ministry of Tourism for approval of funding.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) has been given the "Powerline Award 2012" as the "Best Performing Generation Company of the Country-hydro" category. The award has been conferred based on the judgment of an eminent jury headed by former Union Power Secretary R.V.Shahi, supported by research conducted by Powerline magazine in recognition of outstanding performance of JKSPDC in the Indian Power Sector.

SRINAGAR: Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad today asked the executing agencies to gear up men and machinery for effective implementation of prestigious Wullar Conservation Plan, for which Centre has already released the first installment of Rs 56 crore out of a total project cost of Rs 120 crore sanctioned under 13th Financial Commission.

SRINAGAR: In order to streamline ever-increasing vehicular movement in summer capital, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, today directed Traffic Department, SMC and SDA to immediately operationalize 56 bus bays and 6 parking lots which have been identified at different spots.

The R&B Department is constructing 15 out of the 56 identified bus- bays in Srinagar city. The rest will be constructed by SMC and 35 of these will be ready by June this year.

JAMMU: Keeping in pace with the technology and modern scientific wildlife management tools, the department of Wildlife Protection has introduced latest cameras to be installed in different wildlife sanctuaries in Jammu in order to conserve and protect the wild animals in a scientific method.

The Department has recently procured IR as well as flash Camera Traps for studying animal presence, conducting research in different wildlife sanctuaries and conserve the reserves including Nandini, Ramnagar, Sudhmahadev, etc.

PDD flayed for being slow in improving performance

JAMMU: All categories of the electricity consumers in the State will have to shell out more money as the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) has approved around 6.2 per cent average hike in the existing power tariff. However, this hike is far less than that proposed by the Power Development Department (PDD) in its tariff petition.
