Bihar has set out to match Mumbai with its own version of the Marine Drive. The 21.5km Ganga Path, coming up in Patna by June 2015, will be one of the country’s biggest public-private-partnership projects at an estimated cost of Rs 2,234.46 crore. The Bihar State Road Development Corporation will in November finalise one of six leading construction companies that it has shortlisted. The government has signed a deal with Transparency International to ensure transparency in the bidding process.

For the first time, the State government filed cases of cheating and criminal breach of trust in 18 districts against Maharashtra Hybrid Seed Company (Mahyco) for failing to deliver the promised quota of a single variety of Bt cotton seeds in th0e 2011 kharif season.

Official sources said before sowing last year, Mahyco had accepted bookings from dealers and retailers for 16.76 lakh packets of MRC 7351 variety Bt cotton seeds but delivered only 9-10 per cent of what was assured.

The state is all set to restore its fading industrial status. Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has embarked on mission Maharashtra through an ambitious Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project worth Rs18,500 crore. The project will be a joint venture of the Centre and the state. The state government on Tuesday unveiled its ambitious industrial policy aimed at attracting investments of Rs5 lakh crore and creating 20 lakh jobs in five years after the policy is implemented.

Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said the policy aims at setting up an investor aftercare service to help companies planning to set up shops in the state. He also said the investors will be able to track their files on a website that will be set up for the purpose.

Come September, India’s power sector will witness a new era in the transmission segment when state-run Power Grid Corp will launch a 1,200-Kv ultra-high voltage (UHV) test station along with experimental lines in Bina, Madhya Pradesh.

After successfully installing prepaid electricity meters in Lonavla, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) plans to make available prepaid electricity meters for consumers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

In the first phase, 6,000 prepaid meters will be installed for consumers. "In fact, we have installed prepaid meters at 27 houses in Kothrud division of the MSEDCL," officials added.

MUMBAI: The state government on Wednesday declared plans to set up a marketing centre near the APMC market in Navi Mumbai to directly sell agriculture produce procured from farmers. The move is aimed at bringing down vegetable prices in the wholesale market.
