After more than six-month wait, the Government today gave approval to Cairn India to raise output from its largest oilfield in Rajasthan block by 25,000 barrels per day to 150,000 bpd. Rajasthan block oversight committee, called Management Committee, at its meeting today approved raising Mangala oil field production from 125,000 bpd to 150,000 bpd, sources privy to the deliberations at the MC meeting said.

Jaisalmer/Jaipur: Mining of lignite coal in Barmer, one of the largest reserves in the country, can lead to loss of thousands of crores and burden the common man with higher power tariff if the flawed bidding process and award of contract are not reversed.

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government, for the first time, is experimenting with scientific ways for maintaining land records in the state.

Under the national land records modernization programme, the settlement department has initiated a landmapping project with the use of Electronic Total Station (ETS) technique and is planning to later use satellite images and aerial pictures.

Rajasthan, specially its desert region, accounts for maximum population of the bird which is globally threatened and listed in the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Gas And Oil Production Likely To Increase By End Of 2012

Jaipur: The state government’s talks with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) have reached an advanced stage for setting up a refinery at Barmer oilfields. The long pending demand of the Rajasthan government to have its first refinery in the state is expected to materialize soon. “Our talks with the ONGC are on and that too at an advanced stage. We will announce the decision when it is made,” said a senior official of the state government.

Jaipur: Malnutrition among children in Rajasthan has taken ominous proportions. The Hungama (Hunger and Malnutrition) survey carried out recently by Naandi Foundation indicates that the situation in many districts has worsened when compared to what it was about a decade back.

The Hungama Survey, released on Tuesday by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, mentions 10 districts in Rajasthan. These districts are among a sample size of 112 districts in the country.
