In the backdrop of recent murder of an IPS officer, allegedly by a mining mafia member in Madhya Pradesh, a woman revenue officer escaped from meeting a similar fate by a whisker when she tried to put a leash on illegal excavation of stones at Kusumania village in the district, officials said on Thursday.

The suspected mining mafia member, who tried to mow down Meena Pal, posted as Tehsildar at Kannod, when she was inspecting the illegal mining of stones at the site on Wednesday, is local BJP leader Dhara Singh Patel, they said.

Bhopal: A woman tehsildar had a narrow escape from being mowed down by an earth extractor machine in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district on Tuesday when she tried to stop illegal mining. The incident comes barely a month after an IPS Officer Narendra Kumar was crushed to death by the mining mafia in Morena.

Acting on a tip-off on largescale illegal mining in the district, the tehsildar, Meena Pal, rushed to Kusmania village along with other officials. Caught offguard, one of the drivers of the JCB extractor machine sped towards Pal. The tehsildar managed to escape unhurt.

In order to ensure smooth supply of drinking water in various parts of the State facing drinking water scarcity, the State Government have sanctioned an amount of Rs 7 crore 22 lakh 54 thousand for transportation of drinking water in nine districts during the current summer season.

The State Government has allotted Rs 2 crore 90 lakh 70 thousand to Dewas district for transporting of drinking water in rural areas.
In yet another order, the chief secretary Avani Vaish accorded sanction of Rs 33 crore 92 lakh 22 thousand for the frost-affected farmers of Sehore district. Besides, a total amount of Rs 21 crore 26 lakh was also allotted to other five districts.

An amount of Rs 2 crore 73 lakh has been allotted to ensure employment of 100-days at 18 tehsils of eight drought affected districts under National Rural Employment Guarantee Mission.
