Bhopal: Bamboo bows drawn taut and lethal arrow heads catching the sun’s glint, the Baigas — a dwindling tribe in the remote jungles of Ranjara in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori district — are standing guard for their gods against whom they consider state-sponsored marauders.

Bhopal : A three-day regional technical workshop on making Green India Mission more effective was held at Jabalpur recently. The workshop was informed by Director General Forests and Special Secretary Forests and Environment, Government of India P.J. Dilip Kumar that better work has been done by Joint Forest Committees in Madhya Pradesh. Benefit of these works and experiences should be introduced to other states also. The workshop was participated by Madhya Pradesh’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Ramesh M. Dave and senior officers from Bihar, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

The State Government have allocated an amount of Rs. 44 lakh 18 thousand for transportation of drinking water in four districts - Dindori, Dhar. Anuppur and Datia.
Out of the sanctioned amount, a sum of Rs. 21 lakh has been allotted to Dindori district, Rs. 10 lakh to Dhar district, Rs. seven lakh to Anuppur district and Rs. six lakh 18 thousand to Datia district.

The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions for utilization of Narmada water by 2020 allocated to the state.

Vice-chairman of Narmada Valley Development Authority and Additional Chief Secretary Shri O.P. Rawat has informed that all the formalities have been almost completed to start the work of two major irrigation projects of the state.

On completing these projects would create an additional irrigation potential of 1.38 lakh hectare. The quick approval for these proposed project came in the light of the Chief Minister top priority for ensuring utilization of allocated 18.25 M.A.F Narmada water to state by Narmada water dispute Tribunal Award.
