The ruling BJP has taken to the streets accusing a Congress MP of insulting the Narmada. Sajjan Singh Varma, the MP from Dewas, had accused Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family members of being involved in illegal sand mining along the banks of the Narmada, and warned that “the river knows how to deal with those who rape and exploit it”.

Bhopal: Bureaucratic indecision has resulted in the wastage of medicines worth Rs 27 lakh. The medicines bought about three years ago were meant for the rural poor undergoing treatment at Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad government hospital.

Sources said a huge consignment of medicines, now past their expiry date, is lying in a warehouse in Harda district, about 90km away from Hoshangabad. And there is no knowing how this consignment will be disposed of.

Fishermen and fish breeders in the state are constantly getting the benefits of fisheries schemes. During the year 2011-12, twenty beneficiaries of 13 districts have been selected for fishing training under National Agriculture Development Scheme. Out of these, five beneficiaries are from Harda district, two each from Betul, Jabalpur and Chhindwara districts and one each from Seoni, Satna, Hoshangabad, Dhar, Indore, Bhopal, Mandsaur, Chhatarpur and Balaghat districts.

The work of storage of wheat procured under minimum support price scheme in the State has now reached in last phase. With maximum 7 lakh 31 thousand metric tonne procurement of wheat, Hoshangabad district is nearing the completion of task of storage of wheat in next couple of days.
