The Fire and Rescue Services has issued an alert after four fire outbreaks in the past 3 months

The reckless burning of solid wastes and garbage in public place is causing a fire-outbreak threat to commercial establishments and residential buildings in the city.

The anti-endosulfan campaigners from the rural areas of the district took out a march to the Collectorate here on Monday demanding the immediate intervention of the government to rehabilitate victims of the pesticide.

Inaugurating the march, former Health Minister P. Sankaran said the Chief Minister should announce a special financial package based on the District Collector's report on the victims in and around the Perambra Plantation Corporation. It was already proved that the endosulfan was used in several farms in the Perambra region, he said.
