After a delay of four years over environmental clearances, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has come up with a new solution to widen India’s longest highway NH 7 through Pench Tiger Reserve.

The MP Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Department is carrying out survey of hail and frost-affected areas; decision on compensation and relief work will be taken according to the survey report. The untimely rain and hail frost has adversely affected six districts of the State in the first week of January. Heavy loss occurred to crops due to hailstorm, especially potato crops and other vegetables. According to sources Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Minister Ramkrishna Kusmaria ordered to carry out survey work from second week of January.

Bhopal : A three-day regional technical workshop on making Green India Mission more effective was held at Jabalpur recently. The workshop was informed by Director General Forests and Special Secretary Forests and Environment, Government of India P.J. Dilip Kumar that better work has been done by Joint Forest Committees in Madhya Pradesh. Benefit of these works and experiences should be introduced to other states also. The workshop was participated by Madhya Pradesh’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Ramesh M. Dave and senior officers from Bihar, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Fishermen and fish breeders in the state are constantly getting the benefits of fisheries schemes. During the year 2011-12, twenty beneficiaries of 13 districts have been selected for fishing training under National Agriculture Development Scheme. Out of these, five beneficiaries are from Harda district, two each from Betul, Jabalpur and Chhindwara districts and one each from Seoni, Satna, Hoshangabad, Dhar, Indore, Bhopal, Mandsaur, Chhatarpur and Balaghat districts.

The work of storage of wheat procured under minimum support price scheme in the State has now reached in last phase. With maximum 7 lakh 31 thousand metric tonne procurement of wheat, Hoshangabad district is nearing the completion of task of storage of wheat in next couple of days.

As many as 329 villages have been electrified during the 10th Five Years Plan and in last three years of the 11th Five Years Plan in Madhya Pradesh. During the period, 11 thousand 415 electrified villages have been intensively electrified and electricity lines have been laid upto all the majaras and tolas there.

The State Government have allotted a sum of Rs one crore 56 lakh for hail-storm affected persons of Seoni, Dindori, Balaghat, Umariya and Chhindwada districts. Concerning Collectors have been asked to utilise the allotted fund under the norms of RBC 6-4.

The agro climatic conditions prevailing in the region provides an ideal habitat for the natural growth of variety of plants and herbs, which provide raw materials for pharmaceutical, phytochemical, food, flavoring and cosmetic industries.

The state government has sanctioned 12 minor irrigation schemes of four districts costing Rs 13.78 crore. All the four districts including Jabalpur, Seoni, Katni and Narsinghpur are in Jabalpur division. On completion, these schemes would bring 1328.50 hectare area under irrigation. The Water Resources Department has sanctioned six schemes of Jabalpur district, three of Seoni, two of Katni and one scheme of Narsinghpur district.
