Reliance Power has successfully commissioned its fourth unit of 300 MW at Rosa Thermal Power plant making the 1,200 MW project fully operational. The fourth and last phase of 300 MW was scheduled to be completed by July 2012 but the company was able to speedily execute the work and commission it four months ahead of schedule.

The 1,200-MW Rosa Thermal Power Project of Reliance Power in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh has become fully operational with the final unit of 300 MW being commissioned on March 31.

The mega power project has achieved this benchmark four months ahead of schedule — it was to be commissioned in July, said a release issued by the company.

Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Power today said it has commissioned another 300-MW unit under its Rosa project in Uttar Pradesh, taking the company's total capacity to 900 MW.

Reliance Power expects to have a total installed capacity of 5,000 MW by December, 2012, including thermal, gas and renewable energy. This would include the first 660-MW unit of the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project, which would be commissioned by December next year, company CEO J P Chalasani said.
