While analyzing the data and information on socio-economic conditions of slum dwellers in selected localities of Delhi NCR, the principal objective of the proposed study is to prepare a framework of social cost benefit analysis to evaluate alternative strategies aimed at developing the India’s capital in to a World Class Model City free of slums. Placed within this context, the present study is aimed at portraying a broad socio-economic profile of slum dwellers leading to a comprehensive social cost benefit analysis.

The resettlement packages offered to slum dwellers in Mumbai not only violate their right to shelter but also lead to deterioration in their quality of life.
