These regulations may be called the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Tariff determination from Renewable Energy Sources) Regulations, 2012.

This article will present basic facts on limitations and efficacy of large water storage versus small dams & popularly known as rain water harvesting structures (rwhs) for recharging ground water and suggests serious examination of mother statements about relation of forests and hydrologic elements.

Power system in Bihar is predominant by thermal power generation and the contribution of hydro power is only 5%. In order to exploit the available renewal source of energy, Govt. of Bihar is desirous and committed to encourage rapid

Shillong, April 11: The state power department today said by 2014 Meghalaya will be self-sufficient in power production. Meghalaya, with 185MW, had a power surplus till 2000. Kerala is endowed with vast small hydro potential to the tune of about 700 MW. Government of Kerala has issued several guidelines from time to time for the development of small hydro development since 1992. The measues have encourage private investment to harness green energy from natural resources. The Kerala Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has issued guidelines for purchase of electricity from renewable energy sources including SHPs, making it mandatory for the distribution licensees to source a certain percentage of their power purchases from renewable energy sources.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) released the draft Terms and Conditions for Tariff Determination from Renewable Energy Sources Regulations, 2012 in November 2011, specifying technical parameters for tariff determination for renewable energy projects set up during the Twelfth Plan period. The draft regulations are a welcome step as they offer tariff visibility for the upcoming plan period and, therefore, help renewable energy developers in determining future expansion strategies.

The objective of the Programme is to provide basic lighting facilities through renewable energy sources in those unelectrified remote census villages, unelectrified hamlets of electrified census villages where grid connectivity is either not feasible or not cost effective & not covered under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) and electrified villages/hamlets where power availability is less than 6 hours per day averaged over the year.
