Dispur has moved the Centre through the DoNER ministry for setting up a centre to collect hydrological data with German help to ensure effective planning and execution of anti-flood and erosion projects in the state. State water resources minister Rajiv Lochan Pegu disclosed this to The Telegraph on the sidelines of a daylong seminar on low-cost technology for mitigation of flood and riverbank erosion of the river Brahmaputra at the secretariat.

Disagrees With Centre That Drying Up Is Seasonal. Arunachal Pradesh is seeking facts from the Centre regarding the drying up of the river Siang, which originates in Tibet and is one of the main tributaries of the Brahmaputra. Arunachal Pradesh suspects that diversion of the river in its upper reaches in China could be the reason for the drying up downstream.

GUWAHATI, July 27 – Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan, who is also the Secretary, Union Department of Space, said today that the ISRO has been extending support to the remote sensing centres of the States.

 

Dr Radhakrishnan, who was talking to this correspondent during his short visit to the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) here this afternoon, also said that the North East Space Application Centre (NESAC) of the ISRO has been coordinating with the remote sensing centres of the NE States.
