This study provides insights to some of the key functions of the Integrated Child Development Scheme and health services in the management of childhood under-nutrition in six key empowered action group states. It explores the underlying process and determinants of under-nutrition and the manner in which these two key services are playing out their role and scope in contributing to the management. Despite the recent emphases on management of under-nutrition, the health services are yet to respond to the enormous challenges in a signifi cant manner.

Uninterrupted power supply and provision of other concessions to industries will become easier in 15,000 hectare area with a view to accelerating the pace of State’s industrial development. For this purpose, 229 industrial centres and zones have been notified. Following the notification, these centres and zones are going to become even more active.

Bhopal : A sum of Rs. 15 crore 57 lakh will be spent on horticulture development in six districts of Bundelkhand region in the state.

A total of 6104 hectare area will be brought under horticulture activities in Sagar, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Panna and Datia districts. Beneficiary farmers’ share will also be included in protected agriculture under National Horticulture Mission. Horticulture and Food Processing Department has urged banks to cooperate in this connection.

In stark variance to the prevailing optimistic scenario, Madhya Pradesh is likely to register a substantial decline in the yield of its mega crops — soybean and wheat — over the next two decades. The projection has been made in an Indo-UK collaborative research study, whose key findings were made public in Bhopal last week.

Conducted in four districts, the study projected that wheat productivity was likely to decline by 14 to 20 per cent and the yield between18 and 23 per cent by the year 2030.

The societies have been constituted by Gwalior Dairy Federation, affiliated to MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation. These societies are collecting 4,300 litres of milk daily at present. Milk chilling plants have also been established in Tikamgarh and Jatara with a view to give a fillip to dairy activities.

Fishermen and fish breeders in the state are constantly getting the benefits of fisheries schemes. During the year 2011-12, twenty beneficiaries of 13 districts have been selected for fishing training under National Agriculture Development Scheme. Out of these, five beneficiaries are from Harda district, two each from Betul, Jabalpur and Chhindwara districts and one each from Seoni, Satna, Hoshangabad, Dhar, Indore, Bhopal, Mandsaur, Chhatarpur and Balaghat districts.

The first phase of monsoon has brought smile on the faces of farmers in Madhya Pradesh. As of today, there is not even a single district which can be listed for scanty rainfall in the State.

Above average rainfall in the past week has created a flood like situation in northern regions of the State. The total rainfall is double the average for this time of the year and is creating havoc in the northern parts of the State.

With a view to empowering adolescent girls, a 'Sabal Yojna' is being implemented in 15 districts of the state. The State Cabinet has sanctioned the Yojna on February 7 at its meeting. Under the Yojna, living standard of the adolescent girls will be improved with paying attention on their health and ensuring nutrition meals.
