Yancheng of Jiangsu province, one of the three major cities involved in the province's coastal development plan, views the ecological system as its most important strategic resource and insists that economic development should not come at the cost of the environment and ecology, said Zhao Peng, Party Secretary of Yancheng.

In an effort towards the planned and sustainable development of Port Blair town and the surrounding villages which are environmentally sensitive and ecologically fragile, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor has approved the Master Plan for Port Blair Planning Area and the approval is notified in A &N gazette. The Master Plan for Port Blair comes into operation with effect from the date of Notification that is on 1st March 2012. The Master Plan is a long term plan for the town and the surrounding villages incorporating physical, social, economic and environmental aspects of development.

However, the potential role of urban regeneration is not sufficiently evaluated and understood. Considering this assumption, this research aims to evaluate the role of urban regeneration in developing climate resilient and low-carbon urban environments. To this end, an indicator framework has been developed and applied to two specific case study areas in Japan, namely Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 and Kanazawa City.

The School of Management Studies, CUSAT, has submitted the interim report on parking at Metro stations to Kochi Metro Rail Ltd.

Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Friday rejected the Parliamentary standing committee's suggestion to delete a clause in the Land Acquisition Bill allowing the government to acquire land for public-private-partnership (PPP) projects.

He said the government would not compromise with the fundamental principles in the Bill, whose thrust is on urbanisation and industrialisation. A similar assurance came from Commerce Minister Anand Sharma, who said his ministry would not allow any compromise on manufacturing and industrial activities as they were a national priority.
