Sixteen interested companies attended pre-bid meeting on Thursday for Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s (MMRDA) project to build an electronic waste processing plant at Bhiwandi. The MMRDA also extended the last date for the submission of bids by a month, from the earlier December 28 deadline, on the request of the participating companies.

The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has decided to take legal action against two municipal committees (MCs) for allegedly failing to prevent sewage water from flowing into rivers and has directed two other civic bodies to stop all other work and focus on building sewage treatment plants immediately. The pollution body had set November 30th as the deadline for municipal committees to take effective measures and prevent dirty water from flowing into the state’s rivers.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the state government has chalked out a programme for scientific disposal of solid waste, for which the state has been divided into eight zones.

KOCHI: The Kochi Corporation is planning to set up a new solid waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram. As per the initial plan, the new plant will be set up on a raised land adjacent to the existing plant which is in a dilapidated condition. A team lead by Mayor Tony Chammany along with Health Standing Committee chairman T K Ashraf visited the plant the other day.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to invite tenders for the electronic waste (e-waste) processing plant within the metropolitan region. The authority has shortlisted five sites for the processing unit at either Taloja or Vasai.

The Margao Municipal Council on Friday called for a Request for Proposal (RFP) from professionals and consultancy firms in the field of solid waste project management to monitor the work of installation of waste processing and disposal facility at Sonsoddo.
