Final order of Karnataka State Human Rights Commission on the Upper Krishna Project The order of KSHRC in respect of a petition filed by project affected people under the Upper Krishna Project, as more than 30000 population of Bagalkot city has been deprived of their right to life and livelihood due to compulsory acquisition of their properties because of submersion under the backwaters of Almatti dam across Krishna river.
Final order of Karnataka State Human Rights Commission in respect of a petition filed by the undersigned P no.2 and many other project affected persons under the Upper Krishna Project. The petition was filed, as more than 30000 population of Bagalkot city have been deprived of their right to life and livelihood due to compulsory acquisition of their properties because of submersion under the backwaters of Almatti dam across Krishna river. The Govt of Karnataka has so far failed in providing a proper R&R package for rahabilitating the project displaced families particularly of Bagalkot city. It is estimated that more than 250,000 persons are displaced due to this project.
