What the camel breeders say

From December, 17-19, 2004 Lokhit Pashu-Palak Sansthan organised a national level workshop for about fifty camel breeders and owners representing various communities, casts, and religions, and coming from almost all parts of Rajasthan. After intensive discussions, the participants unanimously recommended:

Identifying and restorating traditional grazing areas and commons. Restoration and management of new grazing areas with peoples' participation

Inclusion of camel milk in the Rajasthan Dairy Act

Availability of camel health care and effective vaccination procedures

Total ban on fertile and healthy female camel slaughter

The activities of the National Research Centre on Camels should be extended to camel breeding areas.
