Facilitation of large-scale uptake of alternative transport fuels in South Africa: the case for biogas

Facilitation of large-scale uptake of alternative transport fuels in South Africa: the case for biogas The Department of Environment Affairs has completed the study to facilitate the large-scale uptake of alternative transport fuels in South Africa – the case for biogas. The main objective of this study is to establish an understanding of the economic and practical potential for compressed biogas (CBG) as an alternative transport fuel and GHG mitigation measure. This could provide the basis for the further development of policies promoting biogas for transport and the emergence of a national CBG industry.
