Performance Audit on Administration of National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in Karnataka

This Report for the year ended March 2016 has been prepared for submission to the Governor of Karnataka under Article 151 of the Constitution of India for being laid in the State legislature. The Performance Audit Report contains 11 Chapters dealing with Administration of National Parks and Wildlife sanctuaries. Issues covered in the Report include Forest cover dynamics, Human Wildlife conflicts, restoration of corridors, commercial activities in and around the Protected Areas, eco-tourism, encroachment, poaching, forest fires, weed management, road kills, research, deficiency in preparation of Management plans, etc., The instances mentioned in this Report are among those, which came to notice in the course of test audit three National Parks and eleven Wildlife Sanctuaries in the Western Ghats- Nilgiri Biosphere Region of Karnataka.
