Bihar Policy for Promotion of New and Renewable Energy Sources 2017

With an objective to tap the potential of new and renewable sources of energy in Bihar, the state cabinet approved Bihar Policy for promotion of New and Renewable Energy Sources -2017 with a target to generate 2,969 MW of solar energy by 2022 in the state. State cabinet gave nod to a proposal to that effect in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Principal secretary (cabinet secretariat department) told newspersons that besides tapping the potential of solar energy, the said policy had also fixed the target of generating 244 MW from bio fuels and 220 MW of hydel power by 2022.
