Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 05/08/2019 regarding improvement in bus numbers and services in Delhi.

Affidavit filed by the Deputy Commissioner at Transport Department, Delhi states that tenders have been floated for 1000 low floor buses, out of which Letter of Intent for 650 buses have already been issued. Further, plans are in the offing for purchase of 1000 low floor AC electric buses and for 385 such buses, tenders have already been floated, bids invited and finalised soon. Hydraulic lifts would be present in these low floor buses.

The SC asks the Government of India to take a decision on the request for subsidy by the DTC for the purchase of 1000 low floor electric buses under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India Scheme (FAME-II Scheme). Four weeks have been given for the Central Government to decide on the matter.
