Report on plantation along the stretch of Ami river, Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh

Action taken report on behalf of Divisional Forest Officer, Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh in the matter of Meera Shukla Vs Municipal Corporation, Gorakhpur & Others dated 07/02/2020.

The matter relates to pollution of Ami river due to sewage generated in Gorakhpur. The NGT in its order of September 28, 2019 had directed for the plantation of indigenous trees on both sides of Ami river and directions were given for the restoration of the water reservoir by the district authorities. The report, informed the tribunal that plantation of indigenous trees suitable to the geomorphology and the climatic conditions of the area has been undertaken by the Siddharthnagar Forest Division. That plantation on an area of 19.80 hectares had been carried out wherein 21780 plants had been planted in 2019-2020.

The Divisional Forest Officer, Siddharthnagar requested the NGT for an extension of three month time to complete the plantation project along 5 km stretch of Ami river.
