Compliance report filed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, in respect of the National Green Tribunal directions of December 11, 2019 in application No. 41/2019 in the matter of Sevamrutha Aradhya Vs State of Karnataka.

The matter related to illegal constructions in the buffer zone of Kudlu-Chikka Kere lake in Bangalore South, Karnataka. The CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) - Hyderabad Zonal Centre on February 11, 2020 filed its study on Bengaluru lakes. The report stated that the concentration of BOD (16-177 mg/l) in the lake water makes it unfit as drinking water source even after conventional treatment and disinfection.

The water quality index indicates that the water was suitable for irrigation purposes. Public notices were also issued by the municipal corporation, prohibiting dumping/throwing of garbage in and around Chikka Kudlu lake. The photographs depicting the present status of the lake along with the newly constructed sewage treatment plant was also filed.
