Sri Lanka to introduce legislation to control sound pollution
Sri Lanka has decided to enact new legislation to control sound pollution for the first time, Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has announced Friday.
According to the Minister, the new legislation will ban motorists using loud horns beyond 105 decibels and those exceeding the limit will be punished.
The new legislation, which has been gazetted under the National Environment Act No 47 of 1980, will be presented in the parliament soon, the Minister said.
