Sterlite Copper has sponsored Rs 2.7 lakh towards a drinking water project at Vadakkusilukkanpatti.

Col. S. Krishnan handed over the confirmation letter to Collector Ashish Kumar, Collector, here on Friday. It has sponsored the project based on requests from the villagers as there is an acute shortage of water. The cost is Rs.8.1 lakh out of which Rs 2.7 lakh will be contributed by the company as people's contribution, according to its statement.

King Abdullah's Relief Campaign for Pakistani People will provide funds amounting to US $120,000 to Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) with the purpose to install water pumps and filtration plants in the flood-ravaged areas of Punjab and Sindh.

In this connection, KARCPP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HHRD, here on Friday, under which the latter would install water pumps and filtration plants in the flood-affected areas, especially hospitals and mosques, aimed at providing safe and clean drinking water to the community.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is selling its second Water Bond to Japanese investors to help finance its work in the water sector.

The Water Bond, denominated in Turkish lira, will be issued in February. ADB will provide assistance in an amount at least equal to the net proceeds of the bond to water-related projects in the region, such as new water supply systems in urban areas, major rehabilitation of existing irrigation systems, and investment in wastewater management.

JAIPUR: The state government will receive Rs 630 crore as loan from French Development Agency (AFD) for Jodhpur water supply project, which is estimated to cost Rs 740 crore. The project aims to augment and extend the present system for meeting the water demand of Jodhpur city till 2029.

Delhi is an old town, which has gradually grown into a populous city. It is one of the important business centers of India and thickly populated as well. Since the last decade, drinking water problem has created havoc in the city. In this study, we collected 32 drinking water samples through out Delhi. Different parameters were examined using Indian standards to find out their suitability for drinking purposes. During this examination mainly the physico chemical parameters were taken into consideration.
