Rs 177-cr project proposal for Kaziranga erosion
GUWAHATI, Sept 6 – The Water Resources department (WRD) of the State has proposed a Rs 177 crore 56 lakh 24 thousand scheme for protection of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) from erosion.

Dhoni is U’khand tiger mission ambassador
Dehradun: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been chosen brand ambassador of Uttarakhand’s Tiger Conservation Mission. He was also appointed honorary wildlife warden of Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced on Sunday.
Dhoni will succeed wildlife conservator Bijendra Singh, Corbett’s honorary wildlife warden for the last 30 years.

Parched Keoladeo National Park gets a new lease of life

JAIPUR: Though the rain gods were not very kind to the Bharatpur region this season even while rest of Rajasthan got a plentiful monsoon, the World Heritage site Keoladeo National Park got a new lease of life this weekend when the waters of the Panchna dam, some 100 kms away in Karauli district, reached its historical swamps.

Elephant owners decry Rangarajan panel report
THRISSUR: The recommendations of the Dr Mahesh Rangarajan Committee to declare elephant as national heritage animal will eventually mar the religious and cultural practices that are being followed in the state for the past many centuries, Kerala Elephant Owners Federation members have said.

Rare species of ducks rescued, rehabilitated
