The Supreme Court on Monday allowed three weeks’ time to the Union Government to file its reply regarding the ban of endosulfan. The bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia ordered the government to file its reply within three weeks at the court proceedings which lasted only two minutes.

AGARTALA: The Union Government has allowed cent per cent Bangladeshi investment in power sector of Northeast, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) officials said here on Monday.

According to MEA officials, the decision of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) especially from Bangladesh was considered following expression of interest of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in participating in 726 MW gas-based combined cycle mega power project in Palatana in South Tripura during her recent Tripura visit.

The State Government has requested the Union Government to provide grant upto 80 per cent grants to the projects being implemented in Madhya Pradesh under the JNNURM. While talking to media persons here Wednesday, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur said the Centre at present provides 50 per cent grant to the States, but for the State like Madhya Pradesh that is financially starved should get more share.
